Why signing John Souttar makes sense for us and hurts Them.

John Souttar is a no brainer for Celtic, he is a big strong no nonsense Centre Half that in truth looks more of a player than Stafelt or Welsh, both of whom have their errors forgiven every other week.

With Jullien returning from injury we cannot be sure if he will be ready for a run in the team or will be out for another indeterminate period, we cannot rely on him as we once could and have no idea what sort of player will be coming back with relation to fitness, strength and speed.

Souttar is in the last 6 months of his contract and is attracting interest from Nottingham Forrest, Blackburn and among others, The Rangers.

It will be a poor bit of business if we allow them to lose Goldson and Balogun on free transfers and allow them to pick up Souttar for free.

Should we go in for Souttar it will provide not just cover but a direct first team option alongside CCV, on that note with Souttar on board we will stop Spurs being able to hold us to ransom with another option on the books.

We have 2 options here, one to sign him on a precontract and pick him up in the summer, the other and that I would suggest would be to offer Hearts £250k to £500k and bring him in for the run in, we can offer him European knockout football, a shot at the Scottish Cup and of course the Premiership with Champions League football beyond.

This has to be a massive carrot to follow for a player who is just 25 and entering the best years of his career, better we sign him up than wish we had when he comes up against us in a different colour jersey.

That and make Them actually pay for a player than pick one up for free, we somehow lost the 10 to a Bosman team where Aribo was on our leaked wish list and we somehow turned down the £50,000 transfer.

Time we snap this lad up, if they had our money, they would have already done it yesterday.
