“Rangers festival of lights” Draws £16,000 fine from UEFA as bears hurt their club again

Sevco have been hit with a £16,000 fine for letting off flares behind a banner mocking the festival of lights that was held by the city of Lyon who requested that Rangers fans keep away.

A lot is made of any indiscretion made by the Green Brigade, it will be interesting to see if the media complains about them and if Gio comes out stating they have cost him a player.

As reported in the Scottish Sun:

The Ibrox men were eventually forced to inform fans who had made travel and accommodation arrangements they would not be allowed.

But while some supporters cancelled their plans – the lockout was lifted some 24 hours later.

And fans in the 2,200 strong away end at the Groupama Arena lit flares and displayed a banner that read: “Rangers festival of lights”.

Uefa have taken action though, fining the club just under £16,000 for a breach of the ‘lighting of fireworks, Art. 16(2)(c)’ regulation.

Lyon were also fined €5,000 after displaying ‘provocative, offensive messages’ under Art. 16(2)(e).”
