Well if you listen to the deluded which most of us thankfully do not, Ashley has been vanquished by a campaign of grit and fight that those of the shipyard generation would be proud of.
However the facts are that Ashley is far from gone even though he has reportedly settled for millions from the Newco pilfering their Europa League cash.
He has further shown that whatever settlement he agreed to he is still very much in control of the merchandising at Ibrox, just yesterday we saw his competitors and the Newco itself called out for fixing the price of the Old Firm jersey.
Today, Ashley has stepped up the campaign by leaking next seasons jersey on the Rangers megastore website, one which is still controlled by Big Mike.
This deprives Sevco of a kit launch and is extremely embarrassing, it also comes just hours after Dave King claimed he was not guilty in the price fixing.
I am sure these elements are not connected.
As reported in the Daily Record:
Images of the strip have been circulating on social media after manufacturers appeared to have mistakenly sent the kit to supporters.
But it appeared for purchase on the Rangers Megastore website, priced at £64.99.
The Rangers megastore is not operated by the Ibrox club and is instead linked to Ashley’s Sports Direct.
The design of the strip is similar to the one worn by Walter Smith’s side in the 2009/10 season.
But the Ibrox club came to an out-of-court settlement with his Sports Direct company last month after it was claimed Rangers wrongly terminated a deal with the sportswear group.
However, fans have hit out at the shirt appearing on his megastore site. One wrote: “This is nothing short of scandalous.”
It looks honking.
