Sutton: “doesn’t get a lot of praise but was absolutely outstanding”

Chris Sutton like many Celtic supporters was on the edge of his seat watching a real battle vs Livingstone, the game was a war in midfield and one Celt stood high above the rest.

Nir Bitton doesn’t take the plaudits often but deserves all the praise that goes his way after a dogged performance.

He ended up with the Captain’s armband after McGregor was subbed on 75 minutes, the Celtic Skipper himself missed from the penalty spot in the first half but Maeda popped up soon after for a reaction goal after a glancing header from a corner by Starfelt.

The game then became a dog fight in the centre of the park with Livingstone’s obvious physical presence winning a lot of football and frustrating Celtic’s attempts to attack.

Bitton throughout was superb in defence and constantly popping up around the 18 yard box in attack, it was a fine performance by the Israeli.

Celtic now have a 3 point gap taking into the international break, when Football returns it will be all to play for, on the 19th of March we have Ross County, followed by a derby at Ibrox and then St. Johnstone at home before the split.

Before all that we have Dundee United in the Scottish Cup, the treble is most certainly on.
