3 bargain SPFL players for transfer to Celtic

Now that it is officially offseason, the process of rebuilding is under way, Ange and old CEO Dom McKay were seen as a little slow out of the blocks last summer and it cost us, the speed of our January window was the best I have ever witnessed.

Hopefully we hit our targets early as we did with the 3 Japanese Bhoys and keep a roving eye out til the death as we did with Matt O’Riley.

3 SPFL players which we should be looking at include 2 on a Bosman, I will nominate what players they are replacing and why.

Reagan Charles-Cook

Has his contract expire in 16 days time, the player would usually be one for Sevco picking up but after he was racially abused online by the people for scoring against them he may think twice.

As a left winger and a scoring threat with 13 goals, equal first with Giakoumakis at this stage with a few players on 11 in the bottom half of the SPFL playing today.

He would provide cover for Jota and Maeda and also allow Daizen to go to a striker role if need be.

He is flexible and can play across the midfield and is strong on the football offering a different set of skills than Maeda, Jota or indeed Kyogo who have all popped up on the left wing.

Benjamin Siegrist

Is the best goalkeeper not plying his trade in Glasgow and by some distance in my opinion, the club would be loath to spend a lot of money on another keeper but Barkas can never be allowed on the pitch again.

We are in a position whereby we take any offer or like Ntcham tear up his contract and just take the loss.

Regardless we are going to need another goalkeeper, Bain isn’t the answer either, but he did receive a contract extension.

Siegrist is also out of contract at the end of the month and with McGregor getting older will be one the Newco will likely try and sigs he costs their paying rate…zero.

Lewis Ferguson

The son and nephew of two former Oldco players, Lewis is a player of undoubted pedigree, but he has shown that he doesn’t role over when playing for them, Aberdeen took 4 points of Sevco this season, the same amount of points Celtic won the League by.

With Rogic leaving we need a creative/attacking midfield player to push O’Riley and provide cover for him.

Ferguson like O’Riley would find himself playing immediately, he knows the SPFL inside out, is ambitious and if he could prove himself would find himself playing Champions League football.

In a midfield alongside, McGregor, Abada, Jota, O’Riley, Hatate and others he would thrive and it would take his game to a new level.

He has 2 years on his contract and would cost us something between £3 and £5 million, but he would be worth it.

Jim Goodwin has links to Celtic which would mean we wouldn’t deal with the same level of obstinance we had to put up with McInnes, also with a good fee in it would allow Goodwin to go and pick up the players he wants who can play the system he wishes to impart.

These 3 players wouldn’t cost a lot, in Ferguson he would be straight on the bench with minutes in game one of the Premiership, with Siegrist a chance to get rid of Barkas and add steady cover for Hart, in Charles-Cook, a fine player who would give us a plan B on the wing.

You can bet your life the Newco are looking at all 3 of them, better on our books than theirs.
